Vaughan Boom Lift License - Just fully licensed persons should operate an aerial boom lift. Qualification can be attained through a combination of classroom sessions and practical training with the specific kind of aerial lift which will be used on the job. A License is needed for anybody who operates or works on an aerial boom lift.

Various types of vehicle-mounted aerial devices include extensible boom platforms, aerial ladders, articulating boom platforms, vertical towers, and whatever combination of these kinds.

When using a boom lift, there are several basic safety regulations that apply to all boom lifts. Safety of the worker is a main concern whilst they are working within the basket. The worker must at all times put on a body harness and lanyard, connecting it to the basket or boom. Never tie off to an equipment, an adjacent pole or a structure. Employees should stand on the basket floor, and never climb or sit on the edge of the basket. The load restrictions of the manufacturer must be adhered to.

Aerial lift operators must be authorized to utilize the machines. The operator should be familiar with all the aspects of the device and should have access to the manufacturers guidebook that should be kept within the lift. Operators are responsible for ensuring that safety procedures are followed in operating the lift. Testing lift controls on a daily basis should be carried out. Position outriggers and set brakes (if they are utilized) on pads or a stable surface. If working on a slope, utilize wheel chocks.

Never move an aerial lift truck with an elevated boom whilst employees are within the basket. Extensible boom platforms and articulating boom used as personnel carriers must have plainly marked, accessible, upper controls. Except for in emergency situations, lower controls must not be used to override upper controls unless the person inside the lift gives consent.

Do not wear pole or tree climbers shall while working from an aerial lift.
Do not alter the insulated portion of the aerial lift.
Do inspect the booms to make sure that it is correctly cradled and the outriggers are in the stowed position before moving.
Make certain that lifts being utilized in or near power lines are di-electrically tested and conform to local regulations.
