Vaughan Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, current and new, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content deals with applicable federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first component of training includes comprehensive in-class lessons and test. Following that is a customized hands-on session together with practical lessons and assessment.
The content of the course applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting crane machines. The instruction will particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that can be done at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, trainees will learn how to operate specific overhead lifting devices, related parts and attachments safely and efficiently.
The operator course's objective is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits which might develop when a person operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment could be avoided with correct habits. Training reduces the chance of a workplace injury or incident occurring.
The course would encompass around eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants are graded on their understanding of training material via written tests and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.
The in-class session, the trainee would know about legislation and guidelines, causes of occurrences and damages, internal responsibility, hazard awareness, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, design principles and basic equipment, pre-shift equipment inspections, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, pedestrian/operator safety, hitches and angles, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training component is an hour or two. Two operators at a time would be trained by the instructor on skills like for example right rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.
Upon completing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee would write a test. Signed safety rules would be needed from each participant. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company will be given a framed wall certificate.
